Kevin Fonzo’s mastery of rich flavors using Southern bistro classics and local ingredients made him a star of Orlando cuisine, and his upscale but casual showplace is one of the city’s best for gourmet flavors without pretentiousness. The menu changes but almost always includes a steak tartare (sometimes served with brussels sprout kimchee), fried green tomatoes, and the K Filet dusted with wild mushrooms and accompanied by a wildly scrumptious cabernet sauvignon sauce. Ask to be served by the long-running and much-loved Rocky, who’s famous in these parts. This uproariously flamboyant merry-maker carries with him a leather wallet full of photos from his colorful past, and he’s got a hundred funny stories for each one. There’s a big wine list, too.
