Getting There -- By Car -- U.S. 550 runs through the heart of Ouray, paralleling the Uncompahgre River and connecting it with Durango to the south and Montrose to the north. As you enter town from the north, the highway becomes Main Street. Above Third Avenue, U.S. 550 begins its climb up switchbacks to the Million Dollar Highway.
