Like a middle child, Middle Beach Lodge is sometimes slightly overlooked, but that is a mistake—it is one of the most appealing resorts along the coast, and one of the best bargains to boot. It’s all about unpretentious comfort here. The resort combines rustic, shabby chic with luxurious comfort in a spectacular wooded setting on a rocky headland with stunning views. There is a huge variety of guest rooms, ranging from small, simple spaces with no phone or TV to bigger, better appointed suites in the newer part of the lodge, as well as 19 family-friendly cabins tucked away in the rainforest. The centerpiece of the resort is the cozy common room (although there is nothing at all commonplace about the views from here), which is where a simple but satisfying continental breakfast is served each morning, and a seafood dinner served Wednesdays through Saturdays.
