If you’re on a budget, the Eslava is the best inexpensive lodging in town. It is clean, fairly quiet, and decorated in a no-nonsense old-fashioned style that doesn’t vie to be trendy. It’s located a short distance from the Plaza de Recoletas, and, of course, not far off the Ruta de Santiago. Pilgrims like to stay here because several rooms have big bathtubs where they can soak away the aches of day after day of walking. Staff at the family-run Eslava are extremely hospitable.
