Planning a trip to Papantla
City Layout -- Easily visible from many parts of town, the parish church and the Hotel El Tajín are at the top of a hill. This is where you'll find the zócalo.
Special Events -- The Feast of Corpus Christi, the ninth Sunday after Easter, is part of a very special week in Papantla. Well-known Mexican entertainers perform, and the native voladores make special appearances. Lodging is scarce during this week, so be sure to book ahead.

Getting There
By Car
If you're driving from the south, follow the coastal road, Hwy. 180, from Veracruz. From Xalapa, it's best to do the same: Drive down to the coast and then north.
By Bus
The quaint ADO station (tel. 784/842-0218) is at the corner of Venustiano Carranza and Benito Juárez, 4 blocks below the main square. Almost all buses are de paso (originating elsewhere), so departure times can be a little earlier or later than the schedule says. Taxis pass in front of the station frequently.
Getting Around
Taxis are available around the central plaza, and city buses go to the ruins of El Tajín . Almost everything worth seeing is within easy walking distance of the central plaza.
