Astir of Paros

Astir of Paros receives some of its guests on its private helicopter pad. Don't let that fool you into thinking this is a true "luxury" resort, though. Well, it is...for Paros. But those who come expecting cutting edge modern decor, or even a quiet air conditioning unit in their rooms, will be disappointed.

Conversely, those looking for a laidback, water-driven, family vacation in a beautiful spot usually adore the place. It boasts a lovely private beach, a massive swimming pool (that never feels crowded), two darn good on-site restaruants, and detail-oriented, gracious service. Maids visit each guest suite twice a day, the waiters in the restaurant (and the bartenders at the various bars, particularly the swim-up one) will usually know your name by day two and all the staff here greet guests with genuinely warm smiles.

So what's the way to best "amortize" your stay? Like many Greek resorts, the Astir consits of a complex of low-rise buildings set in various configurations. So before accepting a room, ask to look around first. Some have been recently renovated, and will face inwards towards a quiet garden; while others may be a bit more dated and face the road. All have a bedroom, and a living room with roomy couches; these are not pull-out couches, but once made up with sheets, most kids sleep on them just fine. We also would recommend renting a car, so you can explore this intriguing island and the town of Naoussa (you won't be able to do it on foot from the resort).
