Located just north of Torrejón el Rubio near the entrance to the park, this large modern hotel is geared towards the birdwatchers who flock to Monfragüe throughout the year. Built in contemporary style with traditional materials—slate, wood, and red weathered steel—it is impressive if not exactly beautiful. Inside are all the amenities of a luxury hotel: floor-to-ceiling windows with marvelous views, a spa and fitness center, spacious bedrooms with big-screen TVs (who comes here to watch TV?). The surrounding gardens include a large swimming pool and a mirador for gazing at the clear night skies. The restaurant, ambitiously named El Paraíso de los Sentidos (Paradise of the Senses), doesn’t disappoint with its gastronomic menu, great value at 30€.
