Planning a trip to Passau
Contact the Tourist Information Office, Rathausplatz 3 (tel. 0851/955980). Hours are April to October Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4pm; November to March, it's open Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, Friday 8:30am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Getting Around
Local inner-city buses, clearly marked CITY-BUS, run through Passau and make stops at both the Rathaus (Town Hall) and the Hauptbahnhof (railway station) every 15 minutes, charging a per-person rate of 1.50€. They connect all the attractions recommended below. They operate Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm. There's no service on Sunday. Call the tourist office for scheduling information.

By Train
Because Passau is a German border station, InterCity trains stop here, with frequent daily arrivals from such cities as Nürnberg, Munich, and Vienna. The other major rail links include Frankfurt-Nürnberg-Passau-Vienna and Nürnberg-Regensburg-Passau, with frequent connections. Trip time from Nürnberg is 2 hours; from Frankfurt, 4 1/4 to 6 hours; from Munich, 2 1/4 hours; from Regensburg, 1 1/4 hours; and from Vienna, 2 3/4 hours. By Bus

Access is by the A3 Autobahn from the north or south.
