Patras was an important Mycenaean. It also flourished under the ancient Greeks and was a major harbor for the Romans. This past is remembered in well-curated exhibits that show off some exquisite Mycenaean funerary objects and mosaics found in Roman houses. Many of the objects were uncovered while digging out the Roman Odeon, a lovely open-air theater off Plateia Maritou 25, where the Summer Festival takes place.
