Planning a trip to Peillon

Visitor Information -- The Peillon tourist office is located on the very short rue Centrale in Peillon-Village (tel. 06-24-97-42-25), and is open for limited hours throughout the year. If the staff happens to not be open at the time of your call, the tourist office in Nice (tel. 08-92-70-74-07) is usually well informed about the attractions and allures of Peillon. Barring that, you can always contact the Town Hall (La Mairie) of Peillon (tel. 04-93-79-91-04), where staff members have in the past been extraordinarily helpful. Additionally, the receptionists at the town's most colorful inn, Auberge de la Madone , are usually informative about the layout and attractions within their town.

Getting There

Public transport to Peillon is tricky, so you're best relying on a car. Several trains a day link Nice with the dilapidated train station Peillon-Saint-Thècle (journey time approx. 25 min.; one-way ticket 2.80€), but it's still a 3km (10-mile) journey into the old village of Peillon so some backpackers end up hitchhiking. For rail information and schedules, call tel. 36-35, or visit www.voyages-sncf.com.

Few other towns in Provence are as easy to reach by car and as inconvenient to reach by public transportation. Peillon is an easy 25-minute drive (depending on traffic) northeast from Nice; take D2204 to D21.
