Shuck Station

One of the most enjoyable places to dine and drink on the midcoast, this almost-entirely-outdoor oyster bar started off as a wholesale operation for oyster grower and Damariscotta native Brandon Parsons. Then the space mission- creeped into a small raw bar, then an actual bar. Fast forward to now, when this former gas station bumps on summer evenings with diners at dozens of picnic tables “tasting the river,” as the menu puts it, slurping close to a dozen different varieties from the Damariscotta River, New England’s longtime oyster hub (a map on the back of the menu gives a little info about each grower). There are also fried seafood baskets, good protein bowls and salads, and neat occasional specials, like haddock cakes or peppers stuffed with lobster salad. Great beer and wine list, heavy on the local stuff.
