Lily Hall

We say Amen to staying in this former church in Pensacola’s Old East Hill neighborhood: it’s now a personality-filled 15-room boutique hotel. Rooms are retro-fabulous, with record players spinning actual vinyl, curtained floor-to-ceiling windows in the church’s original frames, brass-accented furniture, and comfortably modern canopy beds. The lobby is a book-lined library, with cushy crushed velvet chairs and a typewriter waiting for guests to tick out their deepest thoughts. And to get into the hotel’s dimly speakeasy Sister Hen, you need to pick up the rotary phone hanging outside and dial. Brother Fox, its dining sibling, was created by “Chopped” winner, chef Darian Hernandez (see more on p. ###). An astro turfed front lawn has seating and games. Hidden throughout the property are 18 different letters drafted by Nashville-based novelist Adam Hill, sharing fictitious tales of famous literary and historical figures meeting up at Lily Hall. This place really is the stuff good stories are made of.
