Brother Fox

“Chopped” winner chef/owner Darian Hernandez has a live fire approach to cooking that has made this place sizzling hot. Start with coal-roasted oysters with garlic compound butter and beer brine, and continue with a low country shrimp boil “a la espana,” a palate pleasing party of Florida gulf shrimp and Spanish chorizo with charred corn and potatoes. Or perhaps a coal fired whole chicken for two with anticucho and tortillas will do the trick, but do save room for the chef’s selection bread pudding or the churros with salted caramel. Also considering doing pre- or post-drinks in the restaurant’s sister speakeasy, Sister Hen, an homage to clever cocktailing in the form of smoked old fashioneds, caipirinha con apricots, and peach gin tonics.
