The source of the Otún River is the one square mile, glacial-fed Laguna de Otún, which supplies drinking water to Pereira and is an important recreational spot in the area. Not only is it the breeding ground for endangered waterfowl like the Colombian torrent duck, Colombian ruddy duck, and Andean teal, it's also stocked to the brim with rainbow trout, making it a favorite fishing destination.
