Orientation

Perquín is a small, walkable town with a tiny but attractive village square. Most of what you'll want or need is within a few blocks of the center, and the Museo de la Revolución is a 5-minute walk from the center.

Fast Facts

Perquín's tourist information office (Colonia 10 Enero; tel. 503/2680-4086) is open weekdays from 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 2pm. There are no banks or ATMs in Perquín. The post office (tel. 503/2675-1054) is located on the main square, opposite the church. Internet is available for $1 per hour at Servicomputer (Calle Principal; tel. 503/2680-4353), and a pharmacy is 1 block east of the square, across the street from the church.

Getting There

From San Miguel, take bus no. 332C roughly 53km (33 miles) to Perquín; the bus stops right in the town square. It costs $1.50 and takes 2 1/2 hours. If you're driving from San Miguel, take highway CA-7 for 53km (33 miles) into Perquín.

Getting Around

Though you can walk to Perquín's attractions, you'll need to arrange a microbus or pickup truck at Perquín's tourist office (Colonia 10 Enero; tel. 503/2680-4086) to take you 8km (5 miles) to Mozote. Also, Perquín's best hotel, the Lenca Montana, is 1.5km (1 mile) south of the square.
