This is by far the top hotel in town, and it shares an optimal location with the Petra Guest House (see below)—just steps from the entrance to Petra National Park and close to local shops and eateries. Public areas of this Swiss-managed hotel have finally carved and inlaid furnishings, in the style of upper echelon Jordanian decor; the dinner and lunch buffets are the best in town; and there’s a library with reading material about Petra and Jordan. On the roof garden, guests can meet in the evenings over coffee or fruit-flavored hookahs (waterpipes). And instead of a happy hour, they have a chocolate hour every afternoon at which treats are dispensed. The small pool is a blessing after the trek through Petra.
