Karma Home Hostel
The word "home" is key here. Owner Mark has a talent for hospitality, and a way of making all guests feel like family. That translates to spontaneous communal meals, cooking classes, guided tours of the temples (for a small donation), and evening nightlife excursions with other guests. As for the rooms: they’re basic but immaculate, and do have air conditioning. Many guests, however, decide to forgo indoor sleeping, and spend the night on the roof, which is slung with hammocks just for that purpose (it’s a wonderful place to relax during the day, too). Well-located and with a spirit that is quite rare, Karma Home is one of the most welcoming hostels in Thailand.
