Set at the back of a shady pecan grove not far from South Mountain Park, Quiessence is surrounded by organic vegetable gardens, which make this place the epitome of “farm to table.” The menu changes often, and the food is often wonderful, from the vegetables to the meats (trout, strip steak, guinea hen). For the full Quiessence experience, get one of the tasting menus (four, five, or six courses, running $79–$99, with $35–$55 wine pairings). One caveat: Things move slowly at the Farm. Nudges to the waitstaff produce knowledgeable but somewhat long-winded details about how the place operates—and no discernable change in the pace of the meal. Not the place for high-metabolism types.
