The Katathani is on a quiet cul-de-sac and dominates a large slice of the lovely Kata Noi Beach, a haven of luxury. Rooms are contemporary, but cozy—all with large balconies and indoor sitting areas; top-end rooms are beachfront while cheaper rooms are set back from the beach in the Bhuri Wing. Wide, well-groomed lawns surround six sizable pools (having so many makes the resort feels far less crowded during high occupancy days) and lead to the graceful curve of the pristine cove. There is a nightly poolside buffet in high season. Service is excellent, and kids have their own pools and a nifty club supervised by specially trained activity and arts instructors. Since it is very popular with families this is not the resort for a quiet, romantic getaway; if that’s what you’re after, check out their sister hotel The Shore (see below), where kids are not allowed.
