While public transportation can get you to different points of the park, if you are visiting, you will most likely be coming in the hands of one tour operator or another, which will provide transportation. To get to the Río Cangrejal side, you will need to go to Km 8.8 on the La Ceiba-Yaruca highway, near the town of Las Mangas. A Yaruca-bound bus from La Ceiba will let you off here, or a taxi should be about L250 to L285 from the center (half that from the ferry dock). This entrance is increasingly being used by independent hikers. For the side of the Lodge at Pico Bonito (for which entrance must be arranged in advance), you can catch any Tela- or San Pedro-bound bus and get off at the town of El Pino, 10km (6 1/4 miles) west of the airport, where you can hop in a taxi (L40) for the few kilometers to the lodge.
