This appealing three-story hotel across from Playa’s town square started with eight rooms in mid-2012 and had grown to 30 by 2014, with plans to add 10 more. It’s ideal for visitors who want to be within an easy three-block walk of the beach and Quinta’s party action but want a quiet retreat at the end of the day. Besides its location and outgoing, helpful staff, small things—multiple intimate lounging areas, a coffee and tea corner, a never-ending supply of cookies and other snacks—make it quite homey, while the dense “jungle” surrounding the two outdoor pools feel exotic and remote. The mid-sized rooms are Mexican contemporary style: white walls, wood-beam ceilings, solid wooden furniture and red accents. All have balconies. Rooms facing the garden and pool are worth the higher price; less expensive rooms face the square, which is subject to unpredictable bursts of noise.
