There’s a lot to love about this small hotel, which is more than ever a tropical oasis as a growing number of Cancun-sized buildings rise in the neighborhood. Just a block from Quinta Avenida, its meandering pool set in a lush garden is a major drawing card. Bright, contemporary rooms, refreshed in 2014, come in various sizes and configurations; five ground-floor swim-up rooms are just two feet from the water. Junior suites have balconies, private rooftop Jacuzzis, robes, and slippers. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the spa and Current restaurant are very good. Know going in that the boisterous CoCo Bongo nightclub, at the other end of the block, pounds out music all night; it doesn’t bother most guests, but if you’re a light sleeper, consider earplugs.
