Tambor Tropical
This is easily one of the better beach hotels in Playa Tambor, although there’s really not much competition. Lodgings are in individual and two-story bungalows, which are huge, octagonal affairs with walls, floors, ceilings, and furnishings of brightly varnished local hardwoods. They also come with full kitchens. Second-floor rooms are best, with big wrap-around verandas facing the sea and offering inspiring views. A small free-form pool lies under tall coconut palms, and the beach is just a stone’s throw away. The restaurant and bar, housed under a soaring thatched roof, serve excellent seafood, continental cuisine, and cocktails.
