Yes, the W brand is a multinational chain, but you won’t get any sort of corporate feel at this relatively new (it debuted in 2018) hotel, the first one of its kind in Costa Rica. Heck, there’s a line of 2,000 Bursera Simaruba trees growing in the lobby, and a bar lit with bulbs inside recycled beer bottles. The rooms are of the standard you’d get at any one of the chain’s properties, but add chicly Tico accents like surfboard tabletops, and beer taps with local craft brews (yes, in the guest rooms!). The 1- and 2-bedroom suites add separate sitting rooms, with brightly colored chairs plus private plunge pools, though not all have ocean views. Amenities are plenty, with a beach club that has a pool and restaurant, a spa with treatment rooms modeled after butterfly cocoons, and a night club.
