Mother Nature rules at this small resort, a place beloved by both humans and other critters for its handsome, lush landscaping, in particular the flowering ginger that overflows in the tropical gardens. The hotel is located on a grassy patch of land just in from the center of Playa Potrero, a calm and protected beach with hard-packed, dark gray sand. The interior isn’t quite as spectacular: Rooms are simple, with high ceilings and beds that can be too hard. That said, the housekeeping staff is diligent and rooms are fairly priced, particularly the studio apartments with kitchenettes, which are good for families or for longer stays. A small spa and a very good restaurant, with attached lounge (it serves a limited menu), are also on the property.  Daily yoga and Pilates classes are included in the rate. This hotel has received “4 Leaves” in the Certification of Sustainable Tourism program.
