Restaurants in Playas Tamarindo and Langosta
Tamarindo has a glut of good restaurants, and we have full reviews for many of them on this site. In addition, we like:
Nogui’s Bar ★ (tel. 2653-0029; http://noguistamarindo.com) is one of the more popular places in town—and rightly so. This simple open-air cafe just off the beach on the small traffic circle serves hearty breakfasts and well-prepared salads, sandwiches, burgers, and casual meals. And it has a few tables and chairs right on the beach.
On Thursdays from 5:30-9:30pm, the Tamarindo Night Market takes over a lot on Avenida Central with a couple of dozen small stalls selling food, drinks, and local crafts.
Wok N Roll ★ (tel. 2653-0156), a half-block inland from the Mar Rey along the road that leads to Playa Langosta, is a lively, open-air affair, with a big menu of Asian cuisine. For wood-fired pizzas and cocktails, there's El Sapo ★ (tel. 2653-1450), just north of the Occidental Tamarindo on Playa Langosta. For Mexican fare and breakfast burritos, try Green Papaya Taco Bar (tel. 2653-0863), just across the street, while there's seafood street food like poke, ceviche, and shrimp burgers at Shrimp Hole (tel. 8726-0359; www.shrimphole.com), beside the Super 2001 Supermarket. Coffee and Belgian waffles can be found at Waffle Monkey (tel. 8515-3960), near the rotunda, or just coffee at Nordico (tel. 4700-9521), at Plaza Tamarindo. And, for good steaks and Argentinean fare, try Patagonia (tel. 2653-0612), right across from the Tamarindo Diria Hotel.
Finally, if you’re staying in a condo, or just too lazy to head out for a meal, Tico To Go (tel. 800/8426-8646; http://ticotogo.com) offers up delivery service from a wide range of local restaurants, with both phone and online ordering possibilities.
