This quaint Istrian town just 10km (6 1/2 miles) north of Porec is perched on a plateau 104m (340 ft.) above sea level and the surrounding area. It is said that on a clear day you can see St. Mark's in Venice on one side and the Alps on the other from the town's bell tower. Tar is also known for its summer festival, which includes a donkey race, parades, Istrian music, and lots of food. Tar exudes old-world charm and reputedly produces the best olive oil in Istria.
