This Double-A baseball team affiliated with the Boston Red Sox (a perfect marriage in baseball-crazy northern New England) plays its games at Hadlock Field, a small, attractive stadium a few miles from downtown (but close to the interstate highway) that retains an old-timey feel. It's a great place to catch a contest, especially on a summer night when the lights are on and ticket prices are a steal. (Get it?) Activities are geared toward families, with lots of entertainment between innings and food that's a couple notches above just hot dogs and peanuts. (Try the french fries, grilled sausages, and local brews like Shipyard, Sebago, and Geary's, available from the microbrew pavilion.) You'll almost certainly catch future pro stars in action, too -- current Sox like Josh Beckett, Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Jonathan Papelbon all did time here.
