Located inside a 19th-century Italianate home in Portland's lovely West End, this is among the city’s best B&Bs. Eight rooms feature individually distinct design touches, painted floors, faux-marble woodwork, and gas fireplaces. The carriage house room includes a private terrace whose sliding doors open onto a small garden, and breakfasts are a highlight. With sculptures in every corner, patterned wallpaper and upholstery everywhere, and art filling up the walls, the place is a visual cacophany. Breakfasts are great, frittatas to French toasts, and all vegetarian.
