The West End Collection
Located inside a 19th-century Italianate home in Portland's lovely West End, the Pomegranate Inn was long one of the city’s best B&Bs. It's now part of a two-inn group called the West End Collection but we prefer this Neal Street inn to its brother on Pine Street. The Neal street property's 8 rooms features individually distinct design touches, painted floors, faux-marble woodwork, and gas fireplaces. The carriage house room included a private terrace whose sliding doors open onto a small garden, and breakfasts are a highlight. With sculptures in every corner, patterned wallpaper and upholstery everywhere, and art filling up the walls, the place is a visual cacophany. Breakfasts are great, frittatas to French toasts, and all vegetarian.
