Aomori
Named for a prefecture in Northern Japan—a place that has a very similar climate to Maine’s—the food here is hearty and satisfying. Yes, there are delicate sushi handrolls, but those in the know go for such stomach fillers as beef curry, pork belly and enoki mushroom yakitori, or udon noodles in a cream sauce with house smoked salmon. Décor is lots of streamlined wood, service is friendly, and there’s a market for picnic goods on site. Aomori opened in December of 2025 to much acclaim.
