The Sailmaker’s House
This historic little inn is tucked away in an 1814 home on Court Street, an ideal base for exploring Portsmouth: Strawbery Banke is just a block away, and Market Square (the center of the city’s cafe action) is just 2 blocks. Renovated in 2017, the rooms have a Crate and Barrel feel, but the innkeepers have preserved the building’s historic details: original windows, pine floors, a few narrow staircases. The fenced garden out back is nicely kept and a quiet reprieve.
