Ask a local what's the best clam shack in the vicinity of Providence and you'll get the same answer over and over. It ain't fancy (there's not even air conditioning inside and you'll carry your own food from the take out menu), but the seafood is wonderfully fresh and the line chefs expert fryers. And we appreciate that they offer whole bellied fried clams, along with the strips (for seafood wimps). Along with the clam chowder, clam cakes, fried scallop and lobster rolls are surprisingly good meatloaf, and chicken pot pie. And perhaps the main reason the locals send you here: there's a full service bar onsite. Try and grab one of the outdoor tables that overlooks the bay; when the sun is setting there are few nicer places in the state to be.
