Provincetown is considered the birthplace of modern American theater. Both Eugene O’Neill and Tennessee Williams spent time here. O’Neill even lived in the old coast guard station and staged his first plays in a shack on a P-town wharf. New plays and revivals are staged here in the summer; many are exciting works that may be bound for Boston or even New York. Other events take place here year-round including readings, movies, lectures and more.
