Banco Atlántida (Av. 2a and Calle 4 este) and HSBC (Av 2a and Cale 2 este) have Visa ATMs and will exchange currency. Cybercafes are found all over town. International phone calls can be made at Hondutel (Calle 1a and Av. 3a). If you are entering or departing the country by sea, you should stamp in and out at Migración (Av. 5 and Calle 3; tel. 504/2665-0582; Mon-Fri 8am-12:30pm and 1-5pm, Sat 8am-noon).

Getting There

By Car -- An excellent paved highway, CA-5, runs from Puerto Cortés to San Pedro Sula that can bring you between the two cities within 45 minutes.

By Bus -- For San Pedro Sula (L80), you will need to visit the terminal at Av 4a and Calle 4a, which has frequent service from 5am to 5pm for the 1- to 1 1/2-hour ride. For Omoa, buses depart every 20 to 30 minutes from the Citral Costenos terminal (Calle 3a; L20). Some buses continue on to Corinto and the Guatemalan border.

By Ferry -- From Puerto Cortés, there is ferry service to Big Creek/Mango Creek and Placencia, Belize (and adjoining bus transfers to Belize City) with the D-Express (tel. 504/2665-0726; www.belizeferry.com) on Mondays at 11:30am, returning Fridays at 9:30am. The trip takes 4 hours and costs L1,045. It departs from the dock next to La Laguna Bridge and Delfin restaurant.
