The owners of this popular oceanfront trattoria built a reputation with their Mezzaluna restaurant in Vallarta and then moved the business to their former home in Bucerías. It's one of the most attractive dining options north of Vallarta, in a sleekly restored home overlooking the bay. Despite the stunning setting, it takes second place to the flavorful dishes. Large, flavorful salads overflow with fresh ingredients—my favorite combines grilled chicken with mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and a currant-balsamic vinaigrette. For main dishes, pasta takes center stage, with bestsellers that include carbonara, fettuccini salmone, and lasagna, as well gnocchi. The black fettuccine topped with shrimp, scallops, and fish is also delicious. A few candlelit tables sit on the beach in high season and offer the best views of all. The restaurant operates a beach club here by day.
