The adults-only, all-inclusive Secrets Royal Beach on Bavaro beach has large, modern rooms in bright, tropical colors. A lazy river-style pool wends its way through the middle of the resort; ranks of little palapas like thatched umbrellas providing shade on the beach.
Secrets aims for what it calls “unlimited luxury.” Premium drinks at the nine bars (and your in-room minibar) are included, and reservations are not needed at any of 13 restaurants. Note that only four of the restaurants (and five of the bars) listed under “amenities” are actually here at Secrets, but you also have unlimited access to another nine of each next-door at its families-welcome sister resort, the Now Larimar. (You can also make use of the evening dining and entertainment options at the Breathless and three Dreams resorts; arrange this with the concierge by 3pm.)
If you opt to pay more for the “Preferred Club” level of service you get a selection of the better-placed rooms, free Internet, upgraded minibar and bath amenities, a small pool reserved for club members, and a lounge for breakfast, snacks, and desserts—though not quite as many extras as you find at other Secrets resorts.
