Planning a trip to Pylos

Getting There

By Bus -- There are several buses a day from the Stathmos Leoforia Peloponnisou in Athens, 100 Kifissou (tel. 210/512-9410; www.ktel.org), to the Pylos station (tel. 27230/22-230). For a general schedule of Athens-Peloponnese service, try tel. 210/512-4910 or www.ktel.org.

By Car -- I'd call Pylos a full day's drive from Athens (although Greeks boast in doing it in 4 hr.), and 3 to 4 hours from either Patras or Sparta. The drive from Sparta to Pylos via the Langada Pass to Kalamata takes in one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the Peloponnese.
