This newish, open air, open kitchen bistro is a solid addition to city dining at large and to the Montcalm neighborhood just adjacent to Parliament Hill in particular. For one, it has cocktails that can be enjoyed out front in warm months and indoors at a cozy bar. (And it’s not a mediocre, predictable list. Think daily specials with fresh local ingredients like basil gel or peach elixir.) The food menu follows suit. A recent visit started with a crisp yellow beet salad with apples and hazelnuts followed by a main course of red deer with a faint (perhaps too much so) truffle sauce. Guinea fowl with roasted veggies looked appealing on the plates that sailed by. Menus on an iPad for the table augment the chalk on slate above the counter.
