This new, architecturally beautiful youth hostel is a great budget base for exploring the region, and is right at the foot of Masada, so those who wish to climb to the top in the pre-dawn, don’t have to drive or bus in from Jerusalem in the middle of the night. It’s often mobbed with student groups, but the management tries to keep them in wings away from private guests. There are dorm rooms, as well as doubles and family rooms, all with fridges, TV, and a private bath/shower; terraces overlook the desert and a refreshing swimming pool. Towels, sheets, soap, and shampoo are provided. Full or half-board and even picnic meals can be arranged; meals are kosher. A synagogue is also on the premises.
