Les roulottes, Raiatea's inexpensive meal wagons, congregate after dark near the Gare Maritime in the middle of Uturoa's business district, and in the seaside park north of the business district. They stay open past midnight on Friday and Saturday.

An inexpensive daytime option is Snack Hai Ling (tel. 66.10.11), a walk-up snack bar in the public square opposite the Gare Maritime. It has the usual roulotte menu of burgers, steaks, and Chinese dishes.

On Tahaa

If you're chartering a yacht, you can have dinner at one of the offshore resorts. Clients of the Moorings can even dine at the ritzy La Taha'a Private Island & Spa, provided they make reservations in advance.
