On the southern side of the cathedral lies the former Archbishop’s Palace, which now houses a museum dedicated to the royal coronations that took place next door. The collection includes eerie statuary and items from the cathedral’s treasury, including St. Rémi's 12th-century coronation chalice and the Sainte-Ampoule, a holy flask that held the oil used to anoint new kings. The terrace of the new ground-floor tearoom is a nice spot to relax in summer.

The Palais du Tau was closed for a renovation as we went to press. Please check that it has reopened before adding it to your itinerary.
