Fishing in Reykjavik
Not many world capitals have good salmon fishing within city limits. The season for Reykjavík's Elliðaár River extends from June 1 to August 31, and opens with the mayor throwing the first cast. Contact the Angling Club of Reykjavík (tel. 568-6050; www.svfr.is) for information on permits and procedures. Also ask about trout and arctic char fishing in nearby lakes.
