Set in an early-19th-century building on a quiet residential street and one block from the center’s main commercial district, the Óðinsvé is a straightforward, sensible option. The rooms vary considerably in size and shape, with some of the singles being downright claustrophobic. However, most rooms get plenty of light and all feature a clean, minimalist design with light wood floors and Danish bedding. Standard rooms share a common balcony and patio, while the deluxe rooms and suites on the third and fourth floors have private balconies with fine views of Hallgrímskirkja and Mount Esja. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s restaurant, Snaps, a modern Scandinavian bistro that’s a popular go-to spot for neighborhood locals (main courses 2,390kr–4,990kr).
