Known to locals as “Placa,” the city market consists of three neighboring pavilions—one from 1880 selling fresh and cured meats; another from 1880 selling dairy products, including local cheeses; and the most elegant of all, built in Vienna Secession style in 1916, which sells fresh fish displayed on mounds of crushed ice. You’ll find the market close to the port, in the centre of town, working only in the earlier hours of the day.
