Blue River offers one thing truly unique to Central America: dinosaurs. Dino Park, the brainchild of Israeli owner Daniel Apelboim, is a one-of-a-kind exhibit that opened in 2016 with 26 life-size, animatronic foam dinosaurs that move their bodies, gnash their teeth, and roar at visitors. They’re incredibly lifelike and well worth a visit, whether you’re staying at the resort or not. Blue River also has beautiful botanical gardens, four hot springs, a swimming pool with a waterslide, plus volcanic mud baths, butterfly and frog exhibits, and a koi pond. The resort offers its own canopy tour, whitewater tubing, rafting, and horseback riding. Rooms are huge, with either two queen beds or one king bed, high ceilings, walk-in closets and bathrooms so spacious you could fit another bed in them. Rooms also come with large porches, widescreen TVs, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and mini-fridges.
