Tucked into the exceptional Horned Dorset Primavera Hotel, this beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea may be the most romantic spot for a meal in all of Puerto Rico. To reach the dining room, you walk through blooming tropical gardens and up a curving staircase that leads to the second floor where French doors and windows overlook the beachfront along the west coast’s plushest hideaway. The menu changes often, but recent outstanding entrees have included beurre rouge Caribbean lobster tail, pistachio crusted rack of lamb, steak au poivre, and seared tuna with gnocchi. Appetizers are a must, including the pan-seared mango foie gras and beef tartare with white truffle oil. The restaurant also offers an expensive ($125 per person) but delicious tasting menu. The Blue Room is the more casual bistro on the first floor, but it’s still a beauty, with dining areas open to the sea or the hypnotic gardens. It serves French, Puerto Rican, and light American fare, including everything from lamb Provençal to four seasons pizza.
