This is a bar with history, built under the old arches of the slave quarters of the colonial mansion which now houses the boutique Hotel Santa Teresa. In more recent history—before it became a stylish hotel—the mansion was a place of refuge for men when their marriages were going through a crisis or when they separated from their wives. Hence the name of the place: "Bar of the Divorcees." Oddly enough, the bar is now considered one of the most romantic hangouts in Rio and a favorite for wedding parties. But that’s probably because of its tasteful decoration, striking views from the terrace, relaxed lounge seating, and hand-crafted cocktails. On Fridays and Saturdays, the bar features a DJ to get the crowd grooving (7:30pm-midnight).
