Conveniently located on Ipanema’s main street and only a block from the General Osório subway station, Frontera is one of the best kilo restaurants in the neighborhood where you pay according to the weight of the food you select. Dutch chef Mark Kwaks takes pride in offering a great variety of food, serving up to 60 different dishes, including fresh salads, and more exotic dishes than are typically found at standard kilo restaurants. You may find dishes such as spare ribs with a tangy fruit sauce, tuna cannelloni, coq au vin, Indonesian fried rice, curried vegetables, and more. There is also a grill station where the cook prepares steak, chicken, and fish, as well as a sushi station where you can order sushi rolls and sashimi. On Fridays, the restaurant serves an excellent feijoada, the popular black bean stew.
