This elegant hotel overlooking the River Tiber is the work of Anna Fendi of the Roman fashion dynasty. Thanks to her design aesthetic, the rooms are anything but traditional, despite the 1911 villa setting surrounded by tranquil gardens. The decor features bold patterns on the beds and floors and modern art on the walls. Splurge for the black-and-white Giulio Cesare suite, with a round leather bed and blissful garden views. Standard rooms are on the snug side, but most have kitchenettes. Look for great last-minute rates on the hotel website. It’s worth noting that the hotel is a 20-minute walk to the historic center and thus perhaps not the best choice for first-timers to Rome. Enoteca la Torre is the villa’s Michelin-starred restaurant.
