Try Baja California Tourism Information (tel. 800/522-1516 in California, Arizona, and Nevada or 800/225-2786 in the rest of the U.S. and Canada, or 619/298-4105 in San Diego; www.discoverbajacalifornia.com). This office provides advice and makes hotel reservations throughout Baja California. You can also contact the local Secretaria de Turísmo, Carretera Libre Tijuana-Ensenada Km 28 (tel. 800/962-2252 in the U.S., 01-800/025-6288 in Mexico; www.rosarito.org). The office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Special tourist aid service is available by calling tel. 078 from any phone. And as in Tijuana, you can ask for help from the 18 members of the tourist police, identifiable by their gray-and-black uniforms with "Policia Turistica" on the shirt.

The local state tourism office (tel. 661/612-5222) can be found at Km 28 local 13-b Carretera Tijuana-Ensenada. As in most Mexican cities, the Cruz Roja (tel. 661/612-0414) serves as a triage for larger hospitals and clinics. The main branch in Rosarito is located at Calle del Olivo 100. Smaller clinics include Ciudad Misericordia, Carretera Tijuana Ensenada 61 (tel. 661/614-1726), and the private clinic Baja Medix, Mar del Norte 484 (tel. 661/613-0383), whose staff will contact your U.S. physician and arrange for an ambulance to meet you at the border if necessary. The post office (tel. 661/612-1355) is on Bulevar Juárez near Acacias. Most hotels provide Internet access, but also check out the aptly named Internet Café (tel. 661/612-1008) at Bl. Benito Juárez 23.
